Bus Transportation

During the past few years we have implemented a number of changes in our bus transportation procedures. These were designed to promote efficiency and help ensure student safety. We feel these changes were most beneficial and as a result we will continue with those procedures for the upcoming 2004-2005 school year. Students, who wish to take advantage of the free transportation provided by the district via First Student Transportation, will need to file a transportation request. If you rode the bus last year you will continue to be assigned to the same bus and bus stop. If your schedule has changed regarding arrival and/or dismissal times, you will need to fill out a new request. Requests can be acquired and filed in Mr. Halwachs' office.

This year, incoming freshmen were pre-enrolled on the bus that was deemed most appropriate for their schedule and their residence. The information regarding that bus assignment was included in this mailing. Please review that assignment and determine if it is appropriate for your student. You will need to stop at the bus assignment line only if the one you received is inappropriate.

All other students needing transportation will be assigned to an appropriate bus route and pick-up/drop-off location, determined by their place of residence and class schedule. Students will be allowed to ride only the AM and PM routes they are assigned and must also use the designated stops. Any change of a bus assignment or bus stop must be authorized by the school administration. To request a bus change (whether for a single day, a week, or the year), the student must bring a written note from a parent stating the reason for the request and this note must be filed with Mr. Halwachs in the class office. Phone requests will not be taken. Requests are not automatically granted. Each will be evaluated on its own merit.

Students will be required to show a school I.D.
, before the driver will admit them onto the bus. Students who cannot provide proper identification will be denied access to transportation for that day and any classes missed
as a result would be unexcused.

First Student Transportation can provide specific times and pickup points. First Student's phone number is 277-8565. Except in unusual weather, buses will be consistent in pickup time.

If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Halwachs at 222-7608.
