A Message from the Athletic Director - Part 1

Time goes by very quickly and it is hard to believe that the 2007-08 Belleville West athletic seasons are already upon us.  On behalf of the athletic department, I would like to welcome everybody and wish all good luck.

We take great pride in the quality of our sports programs, both on and off the court.  Our teams consistently win Southwestern Conference Championships, IHSA Regional and Sectional championships, and regularly appear in the "Elite Eight" of the IHSA State Championship Series.  Our philosophy, though, does not center solely on winning.  Belleville West believes that sports should play an integral role in a student's overall education.  Our teams and coaches place a high emphasis on character, responsibility, commitment and discipline.  We have high expectations for our student athletes and work hard to create an environment which stresses those attributes.

There have been many changes involving both personnel and facilities since the end of last year.  We have hired a number of new coaches to work with our athletes and I encourage you to meet and get to know them.  I am sure they will continue the strong tradition of teacher-coaches at West.  We have also worked very hard to improve and enhance our athletic facilities over the summer.  Some of these changes are very evident, others are more subtle, but all are aimed at helping our athletes in their respective sports.

I would be remiss if I didn't thank the Belleville School District 201 Administration, the Belleville West Maintenance Staff, and the Belleville West Athletic Booster Club for all of their contributions towards imporving our athletic department.  Without a doubt, our success is intertwined with their efforts.

The goal of the A.D. office is to do everything possible to help and support our teams as they compete.  If at any time you have questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call or stop by and see us.  GO MAROONS!
