School social workers are a valuable resource to the school community providing a variety of support services to students, families and staff. They are called on to address tough life issues that may have a direct impact on a student's academic performance and assist in intervening during times of personal, school or community crisis. School social workers connect people with helping resources and can be advocates for students whose needs are not being met. School social workers provide services to special education students who have social work services included in their Individual Education Programs (IEP) and regular education students.
