Course# 2620   Prerequisite: Grade of C or better in Algebra 1-2 and biology   Year: 10, 11, 12

This is a college preparatory course in chemistry. Such basic topics as matter and energy, atomic structure, chemical reactions, chemical bonding, acids and bases, oxidation—reduction, and carbon chemistry are covered. New topics are introduced through laboratory experiment. The relevance of chemistry in the daily lives of people is emphasized as new theory is being introduced. This course will provide a sound background for the Advanced Chemistry course or for a first year college course. Prerequisite: Grade of “C” or better in Algebra 1-2 is required. A scientific calculator is needed. Lab fee required. (Advanced)
