Students: This year FBLA has entered in a contest called “Teens for Jeans” hosted by the Aeropostale Company and DoSomething.org. The “Teens for Jeans” campaign has donated over 1.5 million pairs of jeans to homeless kids all over the United States.  So Belleville East, we are wanting your unwanted jeans, even if they are torn.  Starting Monday, bring your used jeans to the entrance of the cafeteria and drop them off in one of our boxes.  Any student that brings a pair of donated jeans will receive a 25% off coupon to purchase new jeans from Aeropostale.  If Belleville East becomes the Grand Prize winner by collecting the most jeans, our school will win $5,000, brand new jeans for every East student, and a party for the entire school to enjoy.  So please donate your old jeans for a great cause.  We will collect jeans through Thursday. ~ Mr. Crask

Debate team results:   The Belleville East debaters earned honors at recent tournaments.  At Granite City High School, Cori Maloy (sr.) was named first place speaker in Lincoln-Douglas debate.  Adeja Powell (fr) was second place speaker, and Devi Collins (sr) was the fourth place speaker.  Cori and Devi were the top-seeded debaters going into the final rounds, and Cori finished in 2nd place overall in the tournament.  At Carl Sandburg High School (Orland Park, IL), Adeja Powell won 2 and lost 2 debates in a very competitive novice Lincoln Douglas Division, and Michael Brown and Tayleur Stephens (both fr) also won 2 and lost 2 in novice Public Forum debate.  Nice job, debaters! ~ Mrs
