WWII Veteran Mr. Charles Woodford Shares his Memories with U.S. History Students!!
Mr. Padgett, Mrs. Seipp, & Mrs. Guest's U.S. History classes were honored with a visit from Mr. Charles Woodford on Friday, March 9th. Mr. Woodford was a tail gunner in the U. S. Airforce serving in WWII. He spoke to the history classes about his reasons to volunteer, the Airforce training, several of his 11 missions in European front of the War, surviving his injuries, and numerous memories. He had several pieces of memorablia to show to the class in addition to his colorful stories. In addition to being a WWII veteran Mr. Woodford is a huge supporter of Belleville East! We are very thankful for all he gives to the Lancer Community!
Students Study the Roaring Twenties!
The Roaring Twenties came to life in Mr. Padgett's third hour U.S. History (Honors) class when they researched a significant person from the 1920s, dressed up/role played as that person, and attended a 1920s themed party where they got to mingle with other fascinating people of the decade. Students completed a journal assignment at the conclusion of the party which documented their group interactions. Albert Einstein, Eliot Ness, Sacco and Vanzetti, John Dillinger, Babe Ruth, Al Capone, Alice Paul, Bonnie and Clyde, Charlie Chaplin and several flappers were just a few of the fascinating people who attended this celebration!
